Anxiety at the dentist is nothing to be ashamed of. Sedation dentistry methods offered at OraCare Dentistry can help alleviate your fears and help you feel more relaxed. Additional benefits of sedation dentistry administered at our Plano, TX office include:

  • An option for sedation, including nitrous oxide, oral medication, and IV sedation dentistry
  • Making dental visits more comfortable
  • Your dentist may be able to work faster and perform multiple procedures in one visit
  • Helping those who have trouble sitting still at the dentist
  • The patient feels little or no discomfort

How Does Sedation Work?

The approach to sedation at our practice will depend on your amount of anxiety, the treatment, and the sort of sedation provided. Nitrous oxide, often called laughing gas, is administered via a small nasal covering and enables you to feel more at ease during your treatment. For oral sedative drugs, you will be instructed to swallow a medication an hour ahead of your visit, which offers you the needed dose of comfort. Intravenous sedation is delivered into the veins and enables a more advanced amount of relaxation. Although IV sedation enables you to stay conscious, you will likely feel like you have slept during the course of your visit. A topical numbing ointment is placed into the needed area to numb the gum tissues and nerves and may be used in conjunction with additional sedative choices.

Everyone here is super professional and very welcoming! Having a lot of anxiety going into the appointment, they were very reassuring and patient along the way. Definitely would recommend this practice to anyone!

Dr. Bathini and her staff are the BEST! She is extremely thorough, has amazing bedside manner, and you truly feel cared for. Her office is immaculately clean and she uses really state of the art technology to take images and x-rays of your mouth. She also spent a lot of time TEACHING me about my mouth and proper brushing technique. Her staff is also very warm, and kind. They offered me water while I was waiting and made me feel very comfortable before seeing the doctor. I only come to Plano a few times a year, but I wish I lived here because I would go to her all of the time!

Dr. Bathini and her support staffs are great human beings taking utmost care of their patients which is much needed as its bit scary when you have those bad tooth infections or pains around. About Us
Is sedation dentistry safe?

Yes, sedation dentistry is safe when administered by a trained and experienced professional. Dr. Bathini will also review your medical history to ensure we choose the safest sedation method possible. Please inform us of any allergies, medications, or health conditions that may impact your treatment or the sedation process.

What are the side effects of sedation dentistry?

Side effects vary depending on the type of sedation used, but some common ones include dizziness, dry mouth, and nausea. These usually subside shortly after your appointment in Plano, TX. Since IV sedation is a deeper level of sedation, you may experience some drowsiness and will need someone to drive you home after your visit.

Is sedation needed for all dental procedures?

No, sedation is not necessary for every procedure. However, it can be beneficial for those with dental anxiety and for longer or more complex treatments. At your consultation at OraCare Dentistry, we will discuss your options and determine the best approach for your needs. Our goal is to make your dental experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
