What Are Implant-Supported Dentures?

Implant-supported dentures are anchored with metal posts in your jaw so they are stable and secure. This means that the dentures will not slip, even when you are eating or speaking. With security and support, patients with implant dentures can feel confident that their dentures will stay in their mouth. Implant-supported dentures look attractive and can be treated just like your natural teeth. At OraCare Dentistry in Plano, TX, patients can get implanted dentures that look natural and feel comfortable. Get more information on implant-supported dentures to see if they're the right choice for your needs. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Savitha Bathini.

What Can I Expect from Implant-Supported Dentures?

Dr. Bathini will complete a thorough exam using digital 2D and 3D imaging to assess the health of your gums and jawbone. If the jawbone or gums are too weak to securely hold the implanted posts, then a bone graft may be performed. Once the grafted area has healed, you can have implants placed. For the implant process, you will be given local anesthesia to numb your mouth before the procedure. Sedation options can be considered if it helps you feel more comfortable. Dr. Bathini will make incisions in your gums and place implants in the holes in the jawbone. For dentures, four or more implants are usually needed per arch. The incisions will be stitched with the upper portion of the post visible above the gumline. The implants will be protected by a temporary denture as they heal over the next 4 – 6 months. During this time, the implants will integrate with your jaw. Once the implants are strong enough, your custom dentures can be attached to the implants and fitted.

Everyone here is super professional and very welcoming! Having a lot of anxiety going into the appointment, they were very reassuring and patient along the way. Definitely would recommend this practice to anyone!

Dr. Bathini and her staff are the BEST! She is extremely thorough, has amazing bedside manner, and you truly feel cared for. Her office is immaculately clean and she uses really state of the art technology to take images and x-rays of your mouth. She also spent a lot of time TEACHING me about my mouth and proper brushing technique. Her staff is also very warm, and kind. They offered me water while I was waiting and made me feel very comfortable before seeing the doctor. I only come to Plano a few times a year, but I wish I lived here because I would go to her all of the time!

Dr. Bathini and her support staffs are great human beings taking utmost care of their patients which is much needed as its bit scary when you have those bad tooth infections or pains around.
